January 2022: Edwards Gibson Director quoted in the Evening Standard
We are pleased to have been featured in The Evening Standard’s article “’Grunts’ on £150,000 a year: inside the war for London’s legal talent”. Quoting Director Scott Gibson about what a salary war might mean for the market, and how it might end (namely, unfavourably), Lucy Tobin suggests that ‘London’s newest legal hires might do well to save their bumper pay cheques while they can’.
Scott explained that the salary war is fuelled by the fact that “partners in almost every practice area, in every class of commercial law firm, need additional support”. However, referring to the salary wars witnessed during the dot.com boom and prior to the financial crisis, Scott warned that ‘both ended badly for associates when the market cooled’.
