In a look over the first two months of 2021, ‘Legal Week’ has published an analysis of the lateral hires and the reasons for the uptake in partner hiring in the article ‘'Unbelievably Busy': What's Behind London's Lateral Hiring Surge?’. Following the publication of our bi-monthly Lateral Partner Moves in London, the publication turned to Edwards Gibson for the partner moves methodology and statistics.
“The two months to the end of February was 13% busier than the same time last year, which came prior to the onset of the pandemic in the U.K., according to Edwards Gibson.”
“Litigation hires make sense right now, according to Scott Gibson, co-founder of Edwards Gibson: “There’s genuinely more litigation being done, much of which is directly linked to COVID.””
“There’s always been a correlation between litigation and a poorer economy,” he says.
“Interestingly however, Edwards Gibson analysis found that many restructuring practices are currently “eerily quiet” due to governments subsidies and bail-outs.”
