Edwards Gibson's 2026 Insights featured in eleven publications so far: The Financial Times, Bloomberg Law, LexisNexis, and more
As summer draws to a close, it's a good opportunity to look back at some of the coverage generated by the London lateral market. Our H1 2026 Partner Moves Report showed that the London lateral market had no intention of taking a summer holiday.
Nor, it seems, did the journalists covering it.
Between June and August, Edwards Gibson’s partner moves data and market commentary appeared across the Financial Times, Financial News, Legal Business, Law.com and Non-Billable. July brought a fourth Financial Times appearance for Edwards Gibson this year, with director Scott Gibson commenting on record partner remuneration at leading UK law firms, while other coverage drew on our data and insights to explore themes including transatlantic merger activity, talent retention, partner attrition, fund finance and antitrust.
The conversation has continued into September. Following publication of our 94th Partner Moves Report last week, Bloomberg Law drew on Edwards Gibson data and market insights in its analysis of the increasing use of garden leave provisions by UK firms seeking to slow partner departures amid fierce competition for talent.
More broadly, throughout 2026, Edwards Gibson's market-leading data, research and commentary have remained firmly on journalists' speed dial, with our insights featuring in more than 35 articles, reports and podcasts across 11 leading legal, financial and business publications, including LexisNexis, The Lawyer, The Law Society Gazette, City A.M. and Law360.
A recurring theme throughout this coverage was the increasing importance of talent as a strategic differentiator. Whether examining the implications of major team moves, the growing intensity of the London lateral market, the rise of specialist practices such as fund finance, or the widening profitability gap between the market's strongest firms and the rest, the conversation repeatedly returned to the same question: how firms attract, retain and deploy their most valuable people.
The publication of our H1 2026 Partner Moves Report, followed last week by our July-August edition, provided a timely opportunity to take stock of a market that remains one of the busiest on record. We are grateful to the journalists who continue to draw on Edwards Gibson's data and insights when analysing developments across the legal sector.
